Editorial policy

How we choose products, write guides and keep advertisers away from our opinions. Last updated: 3 October 2026

How products get onto igbeats

  • The product must be sold by a genuine seller with a clear warranty and return window.
  • The price must be genuinely good compared with what we have seen before — not just “far below MRP”.
  • There must be a meaningful number of verified buyer ratings, or a clear reason to include it anyway (for example, a new launch — which we label “New”).
  • If a cheaper product does the same job, we say so.

Hands-on vs research-based

Every guide shows a badge at the top. Hands-on means a member of our team has used the product. Research-based means we relied on published specifications, verified-buyer rating volume and trends, warranty terms and price history. We never imply hands-on testing that did not happen.

Independence from advertisers and affiliate programmes

  • Commission rates are never a ranking factor.
  • Sponsors cannot see, approve or change editorial content before publication.
  • Sponsored units are labelled and kept in separate slots. A sponsor’s product can appear in an editorial list only if it earns that place on the same criteria as everything else — and the sponsorship never changes its position or wording.
  • “Editor’s pick” badges are editorial only and are never sold.

Use of AI tools

We may use AI tools to help draft outlines or summaries. A person checks every fact, specification and price before publication and is responsible for the final text. We do not publish AI-generated reviews or opinions as if they came from personal experience.

Keeping content current

Prices carry the date they were checked and are flagged after 30 days. Guides show a “last updated” date and are reviewed at least every six months, or sooner before big sale events.

Corrections

If we get something wrong we fix it promptly and, for material errors, note the correction on the page. See our corrections policy.
