How we verify prices

Every price on igbeats is checked by a person and carries a date. Here is exactly what that means.

1. A person opens the listing

We do not copy prices from feeds or scrape stores. Someone on our team opens the product page, checks it is the exact model and variant, and records the price shown to a normal shopper — without bank offers, coupons or exchange discounts, because not everyone can use them.

2. The date goes on the page

The date the price was checked is shown on every product card and product page (“Price checked 3 days ago”). Prices on Indian marketplaces change often, so the date matters as much as the number.

3. The 30-day rule

If a price was checked more than 30 days ago it is flagged as possibly out of date. We re-check or remove stale listings regularly.

4. Why we don’t trust MRP

In India the MRP is the maximum price a product may be sold for. Many products sell far below their MRP all year round, so “70% off MRP” often isn’t a real saving. We show MRP for reference, label the gap as “below MRP” rather than “you save”, and judge deals against the prices we have actually seen.

5. Comparing stores

Where we find the same product on more than one store, we record each price with its own date and show them side by side on the product page and our compare page.

6. Star ratings

The ratings we show are the store’s own buyer ratings, with the number of ratings. They are not igbeats scores. We give more weight to the number of ratings than to the score itself.

7. Seller, warranty and returns

Before listing a product we check who the seller is, whether the warranty is from the brand, and the return or replacement window.

Spotted a wrong price?

Use the “Report wrong price” button on any product page, or the contact form. We re-check and correct or remove it, usually the same day.
